PDP Appeals to NLC

Welcome

PDP Appeals to NLC

June 21, 2007

Press Release

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to once more appeal to the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to call off the current strike in view of the hardships it has inflicted on the Nigerian people. The NLC and its affiliate Trade Unions should explore the option of dialogue that has been offered by the Federal Government in order to save our economy from any further damage occasioned by this industrial action.

We wish to remind Labour that no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of confrontation. We can only salvage our situation by constructive engagement, in a spirit of give and take which the Federal Government has on its part demonstrated in the best interest of all.

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee of the PDP has approved the lifting of the suspension of the Imo State Working Committee of the party headed by Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo. The re-instated members have been urged to reconcile all groups in the State and ensure an atmosphere of peace, harmony and unity.
